The Police Arrested Traders in Samtredia

Samtredia, 15.03.2006, ‘Media News’ – Tension between traders and the local government exists in Samtredia.

The traders organized a protest in front of the Local Government Building. They are opposed to the compulsory purchase of cash desks and demand a fixed charge.

According to the demonstrators, the representatives of the Local Government tried to prohibit the protesters moving in the direction of the Local Government Building. The participants in the strike blocked the roads, while the staff of the Special Forces arrested some of the strike organizers.

Kakha Udjmadjuridze, the Samtredia Governor, denies any accusations and says that the movement of the protesters was not disrupted by anyone.
