Prisoner Now Denies Being Beaten Up in Jail

March 23, 2006

The Protest Rally Organized by Media Outlets in Gori will Continue in Tbilisi on March 21

The protest rally organized by newspaper "Trialeti" and TV and radio company "Trialeti" on March 20 will continue in front of Prosecutor General Office on March 21.

Today's rally which attracted 700 people started in front of Gori cinema and ended near Shida Kartli Prosecutor Office. Representatives of other media outlets and NGOs took part in the rally.

The protesters were dissatisfied by the fact that the investigation of alleged rape attempt by Prosecutor of Shida Kartli region Mikheil Abuladze against Editor-in-chief of newspaper "Trialeti" Tinatin Vachadze was "artificially impeded".

According to Vachadze, the Prosecutor tried to rape her in his own office when she visited him to discuss a private matter.

Prosecutor General Office has already launched a criminal case in connection with Vachadze's statement and Abuladze was temporarily discharged till the end of the investigation. The Prosecutor vehemently denies those accusations.
