Prisoner Still on Hunger Strike in Batumi Prison #3

Prisoner Murad Chavleishvili is continuing his hunger strike in Prison #3 in Batumi. He is protesting against his illegal imprisonment. Chavleishvili was arrested by Staff of the Special Operation Department in his home, on the 7th of April. Law enforcers found drugs and grenades in his house.

According to unofficial information, Chavleishvili is suspected of being involved in the riot which took place in Jail #5.

The Public Defender of the Adjara Region, George Charkviani, visited Chavleishvili in prison. Charkviani is sure that Murad Chavleishvili was arrested illegally.

According to family members of Chavleishvili, staff of the Special Operations Department put drugs and grenades in the house themselves. “They searched the room twice and only discovered the drugs and grenade when they examined the room the second time.”

The family asks NGOs and the Public Defender for help.
