Trade Unions Concerned about New Labour Code

Trade Unions Concerned about New Labour Code

Tbilisi, 19.04.2006, ‘Media News’ – Georgian Trade Unions will discuss the new labour code today. International and non-governmental organizations, as well as representatives from the public will attend the round table discussions.

Trade Unions think that the new labour code, discussed in Parliament, violates the balance between trade strength and labour rights by neglecting the importance of social partnership and restricting the civil-labour rights of workers, which are guaranteed by European Social Charter.

“The fact that international organizations, NGOs and interested groups from society have not participated in drafting the new labour code, gives us the right to demand radical changes to the newly proposed laws”, stated the announcement of the Trade Union.
