Zugdidi Ethnographic Museum Faces Bankruptcy

Employees of the Zugdidi Ethnographic Museum took to the streets demanding that the Ministry of Culture pay their salaries. They have not received wages for six months. The protesters say that the Ministry of Culture has no right not to pay their wages; they believe that the government is pushing them to leave their jobs and that the state intends to sell Dadiani Castle.

The protesters also say that the Ministry of Culture does not pay enough attention to Dadiani Castle, which needs some reconstruction. The important and rare displays still held by the Museum are being kept in unsuitable environment, which may lead to their ruin.
