Trade Unions Protest Against New Labour Code

Tbilisi, 01.05.06, ‘Media News’ – The Trade Unions of Georgia demand to make changes to the new Labour Code. More than 3000 members of trade unions took the streets of Tbilisi. The protest started in Republic Square and ended in front of the Parliament. “We demand a justified Labour Code”, “Stop the discrimination of workers!” demanded protesters.

The representatives of several Trade Unions and other organizations participated in the event. According to the organizers of the protest, a protest will be held in Batumi as well, where 1500 people will demand the defense of employee’s rights.

The Trade Unions of Georgia sent a letter of concern to the Parliament about the new Labour Code.
