Family Members of Prisoners Hold Protest

Tbilisi, 08.05.06, ‘Media News’ – The family members of prisoner Ruslan Bukia held a protest in front of the Parliament today. They think that Bukia has been arrested illegally.

Bukia was previously accused of killing six people but the accusation was never proved. Now he has been blamed for kidnapping a Georgian citizen.

The protestors demand a fair trial otherwise they plan to go on hunger strike.

According to Ruslan Bukia’s mother, the crime he is accused of took place in March 2002, whilst he was doing military service.

The hearing of the case will on 11th May. 

The protests started in Tsalendjikha on 1st May. The protesters gathered in front of branches of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in different cities of Georgia for eight days.
