Two Prisoners Die in Ksani Accident

Tbilisi, 21.05.06, ‘Media News’ – An Accident happened in Ksani Penitentiary Department #7. On 20th May, the ceiling of a cell block collapsed under the weight of a 7 ton water tank. The accident caused the deaths of two inmates – Paata Abazashviliand and George Giorgishvili. Another prisoner, Mamuka Saghinashvili, was also injured during the accident, but his condition is stable.

Paata Abazashvili, 27, was imprisoned for seven years and George Giorgishvili, 34, for four years.

The Ministry of Justice has launched an investigation into the case.
