Ombudsman of Georgia Demands a Criminal Case Be Launched Against Kote Kemularia

Tbilisi, 19.05.06, ‘Media News’ – The Ombudsman of Georgia, Sozar Subari, demands that a criminal case be launched against the head of the Security Council Kote Kemularia.

At the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee of Human Rights and Civil Integration, Sozar Subari declared that Kemularia was responsible for the accident that happened in Kutaisi Prison. Prisoners were moved to Kutaisi prison during the period that Kemularia held the position of Minister of Justice. Later it transpired that the living conditions in the newly built prison were terrible - ultimately causing a prison riot, says Subari.

“It is obvious that finances were not spent properly; that is why I demand a criminal case be launched against Kemualria,” declared the Ombudsman.
