Accident on ‘Engurhesi’ Was Caused by Inobservance of Security Measures

Six workers were stuck in tunnel for several hours after the accident that happened in “Engurhesi” (hydro-electric power) last week. One of them was seriously hurt because of the pressure in the tunnel. The accident was caused by inobservance of security measures.

Renovation of “Engurhesi” has started several months ago. Although Levan Mebonia, the head of renovation process, planned to finish reconstruction last months, it probably will not come to an end for unidentified period.

Villages in Zugdidi district incurred losses after the accident. Putting hydro-electric power out of order caused flooding the river Enguri.

The administration of hydro-electric power refuses to make any comments and denies unobservance of security measures.
