Two Detained Members of ‘Egalitarian Institute’ Still in Hospital

Tbilisi, 02.07.06, ‘Media News’ – NGO Coalition ‘Civil Society for Democratic Georgia’ pleads international organizations to force Georgian state releasing prisoners of conscience.

Five members of ‘Egalitarian Institute’ Irakli Kakabadze, Lasha Chkhartishvili, Zurab Rtveliashvili, David Dalakishvili and Jaba Jishkariani were detained in accusation of public order violation. By decision of Judge Eka Tkeshelashvili, they were arrested for thirty days.

 “We demand fair and transparent trial!” – addressed the judge members of ‘Egalitarian Institute’, representatives of other different NGOs and Sandro Girgvliani’s relatives, who gathered in front of the Court building.

NGO Coalition demands from George Bush to pressure the President of Georgia. Saakashvili has “to change anti-democratic regime in the country and to release prisoners of conscious immediately”.

Two members of arrested members of ‘Egalitarian Institute’ are in Jail hospital now. The health condition of diabetic Irakli Kakabadze is still unstable. Despite treatment stabilization of sugar in blood is impossible.

As for another member - Lasha Ckhartishvili has a chronic brain disease, which causes high temperature. According to the doctors, he needs time for rehabilitation.
