Sozar Subari Declares Irakli Kakabadze’s Imprisonment Illegal

Tbilisi, 04.07.06, ‘Media News’ – The Public Defender of Georgia, Sozar Subari, accuses Judge Eka Tkeshelashvili of making an illegal decision.

On the 29th June, the Head of the Appeal Court sentenced Irakli Kakabadze and his friends to 30 days detention. According to Tkeshelashvili, Kakabadze and other members of the ‘Egalitarian Institute’ were hindering the trial by protesting in front of the court building. The Appeal Court was discussing the case of the co-founders of TV Company ‘202’ - Shalva Ramishvili and David Kokhreidze.

According to Sozar Subari, the Judge has the right to detain someone only if he or she is disrupting public order inside the court building. Irakli Kakabadze was protesting in front of the building on the 29th of July, says Sozar Subari.
