The Police has not Launched the Case on Deputy Governor’s Assault Towards the Journalist

The head of Gori Regional Department of Interior Ministry, Zurab Chabukiani has not launched the case against Marlen Nadiradze, the Deputy of Governor Mikheil Kareli, for the threat and assault towards Saba Tsitsikashvili. The materials remained without response for several months on the table of the Head of Police and did not inform the incurred journalist about the result. Zurab Chabukiani was promoted not very long ago. Devi Chelidze, the head of Shida Kartli Regional Police appointed him as a Head of Regional Crime Police.

Marlen Nadiradze, the Head of Shida Kartli Deputy Governor threatened and orally assaulted the journalist for the published articles like:- “Deputy Governors Complete National Party” and “Gudabertkia Hero was Promoted”. Elaborated articles particularly were about Marlen Nadiradze.

The Georgian Ombudsman was informed about the fact too. Sozar Subar sent the subsequent materials to Zurab Chabukiani, the Head of Gori regional Department of Interior Ministry for further processing. Besides, representatives of Sozar Subar tried to get explanations from Marlen Nadiradze before, though the latter refused. That is why Marlen Nadiradze was fined by the court.

The letter, sent to Zurab Chabukiani, the Head of Gori Department of Interior Ministry, remained without respond. The representatives of Ombudsman sent another letter to Gori Police Department and demanded the materials about the threat expressed towards the journalist. Zurab Chabukiani replied Ombudsman thus: “I want to inform you that, Mr. Saba Tsitsikashvili was replied on the 2nd of May to his announcement, informing that he was to appeal to the court concerning the fact, as elaborated event is civil argue and there are not any circumstances that could base the criminal case.”- says Zurab Cheishvili.

Only Ombudsman informed us that the head of Gori Police has not launched the case. But the journalist has received letter from neither Zurab Chabukiani, nor Gori regional Department of Interior Ministry.
