Representatives of OSCE Mission Were Threatened by Guns

Tbilisi. 06.08.06. Media News. Yesterday OSCE Mission Observers- Estonian officer, Major Christ Jan Mora and Hungarian officer, Major Laslo Kovar were commencing independent monitoring in Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone. The observers discovered newly-dug trenches near Ossetian village of Tbeti, and they took photos. They were delayed by so called ‘Apalchentses’ who prevented them from moving inside the village. Armed Ossetians demanded them to leave the village immediately and fired several times in the air to scare them.

The occasion was followed by the meeting of joint monitoring group who arrived at the place. OSCE representatives proved the existence of newly-dug trenches in the conflict zone and drew statement on the fact. They informed Marat Kulakhmetov, Commander-in-Chief of Russian Peace Forces about the event, though they did not show any interest in the fact.
