Kutaisi-Tkibuli Railway Line Repair Works Launched

Tbilisi. 24.09.06. Media News.  Today repair works on Kutaisi-Tkibuli railway line has launched from Tkibuli railway station.

The train movement on Kutaisi-Tkibuli railway line has been ceased for technical failure since 2003. This line mainly served local enterprises. The cut in enterprises-work in Tkibuli resulted into ceasing the train movement and thus the population was left without any links with the regional centre.

Under the decision of “Georgian Railway’ Ltd Administrative Board, repair works on Kutaisi-Tkibuli Railway line will be carried out to restore the transport means for the population and to assist the development of local industry.

The project was discussed and affirmed at the Georgian Government’s meeting. Its price is 10 million GEL. Initially reparation of 42 kilometers long railway line has been planned. 

Repair works of the Kutaisi-Tkibuli railway line will be carried out in a hurry, so the railway stations (Gelati, Orpiri, Khresili, Satsire, Tkibuli) will be restored in several months. It is too important decision for the people. The movement of the most comfortable, cheap and convenient transport means will be rehabilited.

The event will be attended by the Minister of Economics, Irakli Chogovadze, and majority deputy Aleko Kublashvili, Regional Governor Kote Bochorishvili and Director-General for ‘Georgian Railway’Ltd, Irakli Ezugbaia.
