Interior Ministry General Inspection Gets Interested in “Teleimedi’ Operator’s Detention

 Interior Ministry’s General Inspection has already got interested in the incident happened on October, 3 in the village of Marani, Abasha District. The police detained Gia Dvalishvili, camera man for ‘Imedi’.

‘Imedi’ was shooting local protest demonstration. Acccording to the TV Company the law enforcers initially tried to seize a camera from the camera-man, but he was soon released.

TV Company ‘Imedi’ wishes to remind the law enforcers that similar act is punishable under Georgian Criminal Code, Article 154.  (II). It is as follows: ‘One, preventing journalist from his/her professional activities, threatening or abusing his power, is to be bailed or sentenced to two-year-imprisonment; he is either dismissed from the office or deprived of his professional rights for three year.”
