Journalist Rusudan Nikuradze Reminded Public Defender That She had Won her Case against TV Station “Rustavi 2”

November 7, 2006

Journalist Rusudan Nikuradze asks Public Defender to touch upon the dispute she has with her former employer TV station “Rustavi 2” during his address to Parliament.
“…Maybe during speaking about the media problems in your report you could finally pay attention to the cynicism shown by the TV company towards the vulnerable journalist! I remind you that I’m in Russia and I’m waiting for the TV station to compensate me for the undeserved moral and material damage and the fate of my 4 children depends on the public and your organization” – Rusudan Nikuradze’s open letter to Sozar Subari reads. The letter was also sent to media outlets, Georgian Media Council, local and international journalism unions.
Rusudan Nikuradze used to be “Rustavi 2’s” Moscow correspondent. She won her case against the TV company on July 28, 2006.
On October 6 representative of “Rustavi 2” appealed against Tbilisi court ruling in the Court of Appeal. The court hearing is set to take place on November 16.
Sozar Subari plans to address Georgian Parliament and present his Report in November.
