Gurjaani District Is in Danger of Infection

On January 2, fourteen-year-old Vasil Kokashvili, resident of the village of Kardenakhi in Gurjaani district, died in Tbilisi Isolation Hospital. Mother of the dead child was deported from Russia with her two children. She arrived in Georgia on December 29. Human Rights Center found out that the mother took Vasil to the district doctor on December 31; the boy was sick, had high temperature and headache. The doctor subscribed the child some medicines and ordered to take the child to Gurjaani District Hospital. Finally Vasil was taken to Tbilisi Isolation Hospital and there he died on January 2.

According to the Gurjaani Regional Center for Public Healthcare, every person, who had a close contact with the dead child, was examined and the results were not satisfactory. As for the disinfection of the birth place for the infection, it has not been carried out yet. Officials from the Gurjaani District Center of the Public Healthcare state that they cannot disinfect the house if the morning family. They also stated that the illness is not steady one and after death it will not spread any more.

However, local people cannot help their anxious. Some of them have high temperature and the same symptoms as the dead child. Villagers demand immediate examination and disinfection of the infection’s birth place.

It should be pointed out, that at the Gurjaani District Hospital, nobody gives exact information how many people visited them with similar symptoms.
