Gigi Tsereteli Considers Veterans’ Demonstration Unreasonable

January 26, 2007

According to Gigi Tsereteli, the chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee of Healthcare and Social Welfare the veterans had no reasons to hold demonstrations. Tsereteli said in his conversation to the GHN that the allowances for the veterans have not been abolished.

“It was clearly defined that these people were not deprived of their allowances at all. Simply, the social allowances are being monetized. These activities are implemented in their own favor,” said Tsereteli.

He also said that it was unreasonable to hold demonstration regarding the situation. However, if the veterans decided to express their protest in this way, it is their right.
