March 12, 2007

The Public Defender condemned the fact of violence against the peaceful population in upper Abkhazia. On March 11, 2007 residents of the upper Abkhazia got in touch with the Public Defender and informed him that the villages of Ajara and Chkhalta were bombed at approximately 22:15 PM.

Public Defender calls upon all international organization, UN Observers’ Mission in Georgia, and UN Secretary General’s friend countries to use their legal and political power to encourage biased investigation on the accident and punish those people who violated human rights and international humanitarian law.
