Opposition Will Hold Protest Demonstration to Protect Orthodox Church

May 21, 2007

Political Union “By Ourselves” and Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations “For Our Rights” call upon every orthodox person to join the protest demonstration. They made the statement at the briefing in front of the State Chancellery.

“We are astonished because the government harasses the church. I call upon every orthodox person, the parish of Georgian church to join the demonstration in front of the Parliament tomorrow at 5:00 PM,” said Davit Liluashvili, chairman of the NGO Coalition.

“We will demand to stop the harassment on the Church in addition to other social-political demands. Thus we call upon everybody to join us and express their protest,” said Valeri Chelidze, the deputy chairman of the Political union “By Ourselves.”
