Recommendations on Implementation of the “Framework Convention on Protecting the National Minorities” Will Be Presented

May 28, 2007

Tomorrow at 16:00 PM, Recommendations on the implementation of the “Framework Convention on Protecting the National Minorities” will be presented. The recommendations were prepared by the Council for Ethnic Minorities within the Public Defender’s Office.

In 2005 since Georgian Parliament ratified the convention, the Council for Ethnic Minorities drew up the recommendations for various governmental bodies and media sources. The process was coordinated by the Center for Tolerance within the Public Defender’s office together with local and international experts. The participation of the experts was provided by the UN Development Program and European Center for Minority Issues.

Representatives of the Georgian Government, human rights organizations and Council of Europe will attend the presentation held with the support of the UNDP and European Center for Minority Issues.

The presentation will be held in the hall of the hotel Courtyard Marriot.
