International Day in Support of Victims of Torture in Vera Park

Today we celebrate the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. Under the coordination of the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (Copenhagen, Denmark), many countries throughout the world carry out a campaign under the slogan “Together against Torture”. Human Rights Information and Documentation Center in collaboration with Psychological and Medical Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims will hold demonstration in Georgia,

The demonstration to support torture victims will be held at 2:00 PM in Vera Park where torture tools will be exhibited and press-conference will be arranged for journalists. Later the auto cortège will move along the streets in the city; it will stop in front of the buildings of the Internal Ministry and Penitentiary Department. Finally the demonstration will finish at 4:00 PM in front of the Public Defender’s Office. There the Public Defender’s Office will present its activities implemented to prevent torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment in the country.
