With the Support of Public Defender a Victim of Violence Was Taken to Children’s House

The Children’s Rights Center within the Georgian Public Defender’s Office studied the case of a juvenile U. based on the received information.

On July 26, patrol policemen found six-year-old U. in the street late at night and took him to the Social Adaptation Center of the Child. Medical examination showed that the child had injuries on the body and face. The child said that mother had beaten him.

U. told representatives of the Public Defender that mother beat him and forced to beg in the street till late night.

Public Defender ordered the Gldani-Nadzaladevi Resource Center to find out the situation. The research concluded that the child really was a victim of family violence and lived in severe living conditions.

Gldani-Nadzaladevi Resource Center of the Public Defender took urgent measures to assist the child and at the moment U. lives in the Children’s House.
Public Defender was informed that the Resource Center applied to the court to deprive the mother of the six-year-old child from the maternity rights. In addition to that the investigation should estimate whether the mother has committed any crime or not.
