Relatives Are Not Allowed to Meet Juvenile Prisoners

Tbilisi.14.08.07.Medianews. The road to Avchala Juvenile Custody is blocked. Patrol Police does not allow the relatives of prisoners and representatives of various non-governmental organizations to approach the jail.

Besarion Abashidze, parliamentary secretary of the Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) said in his conversation with Medianews, that police violates their right on entering the prison because Georgian President granted them with the right as NGO representatives. “According to the jail administration’s decision, nearly one hundred juveniles were taken to Rustavi Prison #2. However nobody explained the reason of their replacement. We have no information about current situation in prison,” said Abashidze.

Tina Khidasheli, representative of the Republic Party and Young Lawyers Association called the hot line of the Prosecutor’s Office and informed them about illegal behavior of the patrol policemen.

According to their representatives, Giorgi Grigalashvili, the head of the Patrol Police decided to cut off gas supply to the prison.
