USA Appreciates the Abolition of State Emergency in Georgia

November 16, 2007
Sean McCormack, the official Representative of the U.S. State Department, states that official Washington appreciates the decision of abolishing the Rule of Emergency in Georgia. McCormack also stated that the Georgian government must ensure the work of independent media:

“It’s necessary and important to ensure the open atmosphere before the elections in the country. Sometimes it is very difficult and uncomfortable to have independent and energetic media, but it is the most important element for democracy.”
