Zviad Khargilia, Suspected for Beating a Riot Policeman with Particular Cruelty, Was Charged

Zviad Khargilia, suspected for beating a riot policeman with particular cruelty during the dispersal of the demonstration on November 7, was finally charged. Shota Khizanishvili, spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that Khargilia was accused for violating four articles of the Georgian Criminal Code, the “premeditated damage” and “resistance against law enforcers” is amongst them. According to the preliminary information these four articles envisages 15 years of imprisonment.

According to the spread information, law enforcers arrested several tens of demonstrators besides Khargilia, and they were condemned to 30-day imprisonment. But the official bodies deny the information and state that only two demonstrators were arrested.
