Poorly done rehabilitation works
On February 26, strong wind removed the roof from the five-storied residential house in Tsabadzze street in Gori. The roof damaged three cars parked in front of the building. The roof was repaired a year ago with the financial support of the Gori City Hall.  Residents of the Tsabadze Street said the rehabilitation works were done with bad quality and they had notified the city hall about it several times but the local self-government never reacted to their statements.

Representatives of Human Rights Center Met Former Chairman of the Tbilisi City Court
On February 23, representatives of Human Rights Center met Mamuka Akhvlediani, former chairperson of the Tbilisi City Court. The purpose of the meeting was to get information about his February 17 interrogation in front of the judge for the interests of the ongoing survey in the witness interrogation rule. Mamuka Akhvlediani provided the representatives of Human Rights Center with the information about his interrogation in the court.

Dilemma of the local self-governance
The Gori City Hall repeatedly submitted the proposal to the city council on assigning the four buildings of former kindergartens to the Ministry of IDPs and Accommodation. People internally displaced as a result of 2008 August Russian-Georgian War live in the abovementioned kindergartens. The IDPs several times petitioned to the Ministry to register the accommodation spaces on them but since the buildings belong to the Gori City Hall the Ministry cannot satisfy their request.

Public Defender Evaluated the Situation in the Field of Tobacco Control
“In accordance to the Ordinance # 196 of the Government of Georgia, dated July 30, 2013, based on the data of the World Health Organization, from 9 000 to 11 000 people die annually in Georgia due to active or passive cigarette smoking, of whom 3 000 are victims of secondhand smoke,” reads the special report of the Public Defender of Georgia, which was presented on February 15 in the hotel Courtyard Marriot.

IDPs from Berbuki Settlement
White (9-years-old) cottages, school, kindergarten, which is only 2-years-old, destroyed roads are in the Berbuki IDP settlement where hundreds of IDP families have been living for 9 years already; they are waiting for the answer to the question – who is guilty in the war crimes committed during the 2008 August War. Before the International Criminal Court (ICC) answers their main question, the IDPs recall the days of the August, 2008 with humanrights.ge. It is very hard for them to recall those days though cannot forget either.

Street Trading Was Prohibited on the Ruisi-Urbnisi Highway
Part of the traders trading on the Ruisi-Urbnisi distance of the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze Highway rejected the proposal of the Kareli municipal administration. The senior officials of the local self-government offered them to continue training in the trading center constructed by the Company ATU, which belongs to Bidzina Ivanishvili. The latter assigned the semi-open training center to the Kareli municipal administration as a present.

“No Direct Elections Will Be Held for 2018 Presidential Elections”
“The President of Georgia shall be the Head of State of Georgia. He/she shall ensure the unity and integrity of the country and the activity of the state bodies in accordance with the Constitution. The President is the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Georgia. The President of Georgia shall be the higher representative of Georgia in foreign relations,” it is how the Constitution of Georgia clarifies the Institute of President of Georgia and regulates his/her duties and responsibilities. Currently, the Constitutional Commission is discussing the rule of election of the President and consequently defines his/her duties and responsibilities.

Kakha Samkharadze Became Shida Kartli Regional Governor
Based on the decision of the Prime-Minister of Georgia Kakha Samkharadze was appointed to the position of the Shida Kartli regional governor. On February 3, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze presented the new governor to the employees of the Shida Kartli regional administration and senior officials of the local self-governments of the region.

Transportation Fee on Public Transport Increased in Gori
The Private Taxi Companies in Gori increased fees on transportation service. Transportation tariff was increased from 1 GEL to 1,5 GEL. The companies connect it with increased price on fuel, which was caused by increased excise payment on oil products based on the decision of the Government of Georgia.
