Overview of the first and second Rounds of the Parliamentary Elections in Kvemo Kartli

The 2020 Parliamentary Elections were held in Georgia under a revised electoral system. The citizens of Georgia elected the legislature with a model that is close to the proportional system. However, due to irregularities in the election process, opposition parties and part of the public do not recognize the results. Some of the NGOs believe that the October 31 elections were marked by a low degree of democracy, which would significantly hamper the sustainable development of the country.
Covid Crises in the Health Care System

The daily rate of coronavirus infections in Georgia has long exceeded four thousands. The Georgian healthcare system has met such a high spread of the disease completely unprepared - people are unable to call an ambulance, receive family doctor's consultation or do receive them late, hospitals are overcrowded, and places are no longer available even for the patients in critical conditions. The medical staff is also in a difficult situation. Since the beginning of the pandemic on February 26, 10 physicians have died in Georgia and several hundred have been infected with the coronavirus. Covid hospitals are short on personnel.
Georgian Dream being in the majority as the opposition being in the streets: Two Rounds of the Parliamentary Elections

For the first during the eight-year rule of Georgian Dream, the most acute problem of legitimacy arose with regard the Parliamentary Elections of October 31, 2020. The results of the elections are not recognized by the entire opposition including those who managed to enter the parliament and those parties who failed to win the seat in the Parliament.
The main trends identified by Human Rights Center in the second round of the Parliamentary Elections

Human Rights Center (HRC) observed the second round of the 2020 Parliamentary Elections in the polling stations of Khashuri-Kareli and Rustavi-Gardabani municipalities. The HRC monitors were observing the process of executing the election procedures from the opening of polling stations to the end of the polling, further they observed the counting process and the completion of summary protocols. The HRC observers also focused on the territory adjacent to the polling stations.

The European Court of Human Rights Ruled that State of Georgia Shall Pay EURO 10 000 to the Applicant
