Representatives of TV Company Maestro Demonstrated in front of Parliament

April 22, 2008
Representatives of the TV Company “Maestro” held a sit-in demonstration in front of the parliament’s building. Magda Anikashvili, member of the Christian-Democratic Movement, Guguli Maghradze, member of the Women’s party and Davit Akubardia, the Director of the TV Company “Kavkasia” were on scene to take part in the demonstration.

“Freedom of speech is restricted in Georgia. It is not our purpose with protest to get a license but we want to protest the suppression of journalists in Georgia,” said Mamuka Ghlonti, director of “Maestro”.

“We continue to struggle for the freedom of speech. The reason we entered politics is because media is suppressed. Today, the situation is very difficult in this sphere. The government takes all efforts to control media sources. It is clear that with approaching parliamentary elections the degree of the suppression becomes more and more severe,” said Magda Anikashvili.
