EU Monitoring Mission Studied Problems of IDPs from Abkhazia

March 24, 2009

The EU monitoring mission studied the problems of IDPs from Abkhazia who compactly reside in the Kakheti region.

Internally displaced persons provided the representatives of the international organization with detailed information about the resettlement process. The IDPs pointed out that 16 years later governmental officials evict them from accommodations against their will; if they do not obey the orders the officials threaten them with forceful eviction. The IDPs asked the representatives of the EU monitoring mission to monitor the costs and expenses on rehabilitation works of their accommodations. These people are of the opinion that the allocated sums are wasted unreasonably.
