Six Citizens still Remain in Jail under Tskhinvali Regime

September 2, 2009

Six citizens detained 2 days ago, have not been released by Tskhinvali regime yet.

“The detainees are supposed to be in Tskhinvali. They are residents of Lamiskana and Akhmaji. No further details are specified and we do our best to make the situation clear,” said Shota Utiashvili, the head of Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to him, if Tskhinvali does not release the detainees, the Georgian side will raise the issue at the next meeting of incidents prevention and corresponding reaction. The meeting is scheduled in the village of Ergneti.

The Georgian citizens were detained for smuggling on August 31. They were accused of illegal transporting of precious wood materials from Akhalgori District.
