Non-governmental Organizations Signed Memorandum

27 non-governmental organizations signed memorandum on fair local self-governmental elections.
Member organizations of the NGO coalition “Civil Development” made statement about the memorandum in the coalition office today.

According to memorandum, 27 NGOs agreed to act in coordination. They will cooperate with foreign and international observer missions whom they will inform about all details. They will use legal ways to observe and respond on violations during elections. They will also have constructive relationship with election administration and election entities.

Lawyers, media representatives and organizations, who participated in the monitoring of elections, have signed the memorandum.

They are: “Young Lawyers Association”, “Law for People”, “Fair Elections”, “International Society for Democracy”, “Multinational Georgia”, “Human Rights Centre”, “Article 42 of Constitution”, “Media Monitoring Centre”, “Georgian Regional Media Association”, “New Generation-New Initiative”, and “Trade Union of Georgian Lawyers” and other organizations.

Leader of the Trade Union of Lawyers Lali Aptsiauri stated at the press conference, hundred lawyers will be trained in election law, who will work on complaints filed during elections and if necessary they will appeal to Strasbourg Court.

According to the leader of “Regional Media Association of Georgia” Ia Mamaladze, it is very important to hold fair self-governmental elections and involvement of the society and media in this process is very important.
