Mother with Five Children Asks for Assistance

August 2, 2010
A mother with five children living in the Gurjaani municipality of the Yitaani village, Eva Nozadze, is asking for help. As she stated to the Kakheti Information Center, her house burnt down five years ago. She has been asking the government to help her rebuild ever since and with no results.

“There are six members in our family and three of them are minors.” We have only one room that has significant water damage. It doesn’t have any doors or windows and we are persisting in terrible conditions. We don’t even have enough beds and my children spend nights at neighbors’ places in winter stay in the yard during the summer. We don’t have any income aside from social allowances. We are simply asking for the restoration of this one room from the municipality so my children can spend their nights under one roof. I’ve been petitioning the municipality for years now, but nobody pays attention to me,” Eva Nozadze states.

According to a statement from the director of the Gurjaani municipality government, Irakli Mindiashvili, the government doesn’t have enough resources in the local budget to help Nozadze’s family. “We’ll let the governor’s administration know about this matter so that they may give them wooden material for building windows and a proper floor,” stated Irakli Mindiashvili to the Kakheti Information Center.
