Member of the Movement “No” Released from Prison

August 16, 2010
After serving the full term of his arrest, the member of the movement “No” is released from prison.
As the leader of the movement “No,” Levan Chitadze stated, Daraselia, who already left the #2 temporal isolator, considers himself a political prisoner and is going to continue protesting in the future.
According to Chitadze, it is an unprecedented case in the history of Georgian courts when a person gets 30 day prison sentence for violating the court order. According to his explanation, for this kind of violation, as a rule, the judge renders a 200 lari fine.
Chitadze links this strict decision to the judge’s political orientation. According to him, the judge made this decision after clarifying that Daraselia was the Member of the movement “No.”
According to Levan Chitadze, Akaki Daraselia was arrested on the command of a judge, in the court hall, on July 14th. He was attending the court process of the member of movement “No”, Luarsab Jvania, during which he expressed his protest by declaring that Luarsab Jvania is the personal prisoner of Vano Merabishvili. The judge considered this declaration an insult for the court.
