20 Prisoners Released Earlier Than Conditional Term Release

The Councils for Release Earlier than Conditional Term made the decision of releasing 20 convicts. According to Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia, there are two women and two juvenile offenders among the released prisoners.

The Western Georgia Council released four prisoners, Eastern – 16, including two women. The council for juvenile offenders released two convicts earlier than the conditional term release.

Councils will discuss the requests of earlier releases at the end of every month. Then the verbal hearing will take place which will be attended by the convict and a lawyer.
The reports presented by the councils will be discussed by the permanent councils of Ministry, periodically no less than once in three months.

According to New Code of Imprisonment, the council for discussing issues of juvenile convicts in the territory of Eastern and Western Georgia is created.

The councils with five member organizations are comprised by the representatives of the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance, National Agency of Probation, local non-governmental organization, Supreme Council of Justice, representatives of local government.
