Trial of Israeli Businessmen to Be Resumed Tomorrow

Trial of Israeli businessmen Ron Fuchs and Zeev Frenkiel will be resumed in Tbilisi Civil Court tomorrow.
As InterPressNews was reported from the City Court, the plaintiff will continue introduction of evidences which started at the previous court hearing.
On the previous hearing, the presiding judge Vazha Phukhashvili declined a motion from the defense lawyers to question Nika Gilauri, Kakha Baindurashvili and Tina Burjaliani.
Lawyer of the businessmen Archil Kbilashvili stated that the above-listed officials had to be questioned as they took part in provoking the crime. The lawyer explains that the officials planned to bring Israeli businessmen to Georgia and detain them. International Arbitration Court imposed more than 98 million USD on the government of Georgia to pay to the Israeli businessmen. Government of Georgia did not want to pay the money.
Fuchs and Frenkiel do not plead guilty. They are in pre-trial detention.
Israeli businessmen have two Georgian lawyers Archil Kbilashvili and Giorgi Kavlashvili and one Israeli lawyer Mordechai Tvizin. The trial is observed by the representatives of the US and Israeli embassies in Georgia. Ambassador of Israel to Georgia Itzhak Gerberg attended the previous hearing.
Two citizens of Israel Ron Fuchs and Zeev Frenkiel were detained on 14 October, 2010. According to the Georgian prosecution team, Fuchs and Frenkiel were trying to bribe Georgia’s Deputy Finance Minister Avtandil Kharaidze by offering the official 7 million U.S. dollars in exchange for convincing the Georgian government not to challenge a decision of the International Arbitration Court, which ordered the government of Georgia to pay 98 million dollars to Israeli businessmen.
