Attorney of Military Pilots Blame the Court and Investigation in Breaching the Rights of Detainees

January 17, 2011
Murman Kamadadze - attorney of the military pilots, detained as a result of the special operation “Enveri”, blames the investigation and the court in breaching the rights of the detainees.

Murman Kamadadze said the rights of his clients Viacheslav Pluzhnikov and Gocha Diasamidze are breached because the attorney was not allowed to make copy of case materials.

According to Kamadadze, his activities could have been more effective if he had access to case materials. He said the investigation and court are entitled to make the case materials available for the defense side. However, Kamadadze was allowed to study the documents only in the law enforcement institution.

Since he does not have access to the documents, the defense side cannot appeal to the Strasbourg Court.

The case was already sent to the Batumi City Court but the court-hearing was not scheduled yet; the status of Griffith Secret was granted to the case.

As a result of the special operation of the Counter-Intelligence Department of the MIA 15 people were imprisoned. Plea-agreement was signed with two of them. 4 detainees are citizens of Russia and other 9 out of total 13 are citizens of Georgia.
