One More Festival Financed by Money of Batumi Residents

160 000 GEL from the Batumi budget will be spent on the musical festival Golden Talant. This decision was adopted by the support of majority on June 21st at Batumi City Council session.

The opposition parties did not support the allotment of money for Golden Talent.

Vazha Verulidze, Christian Democrat Movement: “We think that in order to conduct this festival, the money must be allotted but not in the country and not on the social background that we experience at this stage.”

The member of Republican Party Irakli Chavleishvili expresses protest regarding the name of the festival at well: “I speak Georgian and this document must be presented in Georgian. We will soon forget Georgian language. They are building castles worth 60-million and cannot read and write in Georgian. We have seen similar contest numerous times in Batumi. This is like a sunflower seed that you eat and do not remember afterwards.”

17 000 GEL out of 160 000 will be spent on internal organization of the contest. The singers who will present Georgia on this festival will be revealed. In sum this money is distributed in a following way: transportation – 10 000 GEL, hotel and food – 20 000 GEL, stage-sound-light – 50 000 GEL, decoration – 30 000 GEL, organizational expenses – 10 000 GEL, prizes – 23 000 GEL. Representatives of 24 countries will participate in the festival. Davit Evgenidze is one of the organizers.
