Soso Jachvliani Will Sue Government in Strasbourg

After 30-day imprisonment and hunger-strike Soso Jachvliani said he will sue the government in Strasbourg.

“I was not on hunger-strike because of my sport interests. It was extreme protest. I would have gone crazy unless I started it. Even if I were sentenced to two or three-month imprisonment, I would not have eaten food… I will fight for freedom till the end. I am sorry for them. I do not know who they are; where they have come from, or what origin they have?! I think they are scorpions inoculated on snake. Unless they leave soon, they will not escape the public anger,” said Jachvliani.

-First of all, please tell us how is your health?

-I am still feeling weak; I am making infusion. But my physical condition does not make any difference; I still have the same spirit – I have not lost desire to fight against injustice.

- What are you going to do?

-I do not know yet… When I recover from this situation, I will inform you. The biggest gift for me was Patriarch’s blessing and his care. Having left the detention setting, I visited the Patriarch together with my family; I asked his pardon and apologized to him for having disobeyed his request to stop hunger-strike. I had no other way but hunger strike to demonstrate my protest.

-What did you protest?

-I protested what I saw in the police station. Believe me; I preferred to be dead than to see what happened there. Those coward people are well-trained in beating people with irons on their hands. They cannot do anything else. I always knew even before May 26 that they were reptiles but today they started to spread stench. I was on hunger-strike for 30 days and we are doing the same job what we always did. Do you know what it means? The government of the National Movement has collapsed; only pack of coward killers remained there, those who hate Georgia – they use their homeland only for their commercial interests and do nothing but earning much money.

I also protested my arbitrary detention. Why did they arrest me? Did I breach the law?! They tried to convince us that we are living in a democrat country. And how it can happen that people are arrested in a democrat state for expressing their free opinion? If they prohibit us to express our opinion, then they should write in the constitution… I will appeal to the Strasbourg Court by all means.

-According to official information you were arrested for disobedience to police…

-They should show the fact, video-recording where I did not obey the police officer.

-Did not you resist police officers when they were dispersing the demonstration?

-How could I resist them? Even if I were Muhammad Ali I could not have shake a hand. They opened tear gas from one direction, they shot rubber bullets from another direction and water cannot was opened from the third one.

-People say Soso broke two hand-irons; is it true?

-Yes, it is true. I did it because of anger. By the way, several people had warned me to leave the area before dispersal. I did not move. How could I leave women there? Similar brutality has never happened anywhere else. The government ruthlessly punished poisoned, weak women, old people and children.

-When you were in the detention setting, many people supported you. However, they often wondered why you were together with Burjanadze?

-I was with Georgian people and will remain with them till the end of my life.

-Political party, which organized the demonstration, is accused of alliance with Russia…

-Let them tell those stories to Enver Khoja and Ceausescu. Do you know what this government did? Just imagine that I will go to Merabishvili (minister of interior) and warn him that I am planning terrorist act (God Save Me) and then he will arrest me; anyway the people will never believe that I really planned the terrorist act. They have said so many false, they have showed so many staged spectacles and they called Russian spies to so many people, that I cannot believe their statements without valid arguments. Several “destroyed” people have called me traitor. I always say that I am spy of Georgia. I wonder whose spy our government is. It is fact that they are not spies of Georgia because they do not do anything for the country and people. They have set the country on fire and are warming their hands on it…

-How can you explain the fact that you were put in prison but no other organizer of the demonstration was punished?

-Do you know what it means? Exactly what you are asking!

-What do you mean?

-The government aimed to compel you journalists to ask me these questions; then they expected me to get angry with the demonstration organizers and curse them. They will not receive similar results. They should believe that they have failed. I will always stand with those people who I always supported; they will never compel me to oppose my friends; I will find out the situation without their support.
