The Batumelebi Demands Davit Devnozashvili’s Interrogation

November 28, 2011

Mzia Amaglobeli, director of The Batumelebi newspaper, petitioned to Vano Merabishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, demanding the interrogation of the person who allegedly blackmailed and threatened the Batumelebi journalist; Nestan Tsteskhladze, the Editor-in-chief of the Batumelebi’s online newspaper Netgazeti told Media.ge about it.

According to the edition, on November 25, 2009 at the MIA building Batumi, certain Davit compelled journalist Tedo Jorbenadze, coordinator of the Batumelebi investigative team, to cooperate with Special Forces through blackmail. The journalist immediately appealed to the Prosecutor’s Office but the person was not identified yet.

On November 20 Batumelebi tracked down the aforementioned person who appeared to be a law enforcement officer, Davit Devnozashvili. Nestan Tstskhladze visited him at home together with Mzia Amaglobeli. They called the patrol police who, after over-phone consultations with the senior management, quit the scene without filing any kind of protocol.

Reporting to Media.ge Nestan Tstskhladze said they requested in their letter to MIA to be notified whether the patrol police had filed a protocol and if so, the edition requests a copy of the protocol.

“We request prompt solution of the case and to update us, interested part and entire society about the information,” said Nestan Tstskhladze.

Tedo Jorbenadze has also appealed to the Adjara Main Prosecutor’s Office and requested to interrogate Devnozashvili.
