Statistics of Cases Finished with Agreements to Be Published on the Ministry’s Website in June

April 10, 2013

According to Thea Tsulukiani, minister of justice, people who have been waiting for compensations for years, will receive them in May or in June.

“We finished some cases with agreement, focused on sick prisoners, also on the cases about multimillion lari disputes; among them is “case of x-rayed people” “aviators’ case,” etc. Official agreements were not signed so far but our honorable people will receive compensations till the end of May or June, who have been waiting for these compensations since Shevardnadze. Majority of compensations were already paid. And by summer we will have completed the process. Therefore, people will no longer need to wait for the judgments of the Strasbourg court during several years. Strategy is the following: all cases which were already communicated and lawyers are also involved in, are priorities for agreement. We will not focus only on them.  If an applicant applies to us and declares that his/her case was filed to the European Court of Human Rights and there is a chance to reach agreement in it, we will meet them and discuss the solution ways”, Tsulukiani said and added that in June, the statistics of the cases ended up with agreement will be published on the official website of the Ministry of Justice.
