Zurab Laliashvili Released from Court Room

Former head of Kakheti office of the Constitutional Security Department Zurab Laliashvili was released from the court room under bail of 2000 GEL.

At the trial on July 17 the defense side filed written solicitation to the court to change preventive measure on Laliashvili - imprisonment into bail and prosecutor Manana Tandashvili from Kakheti regional prosecutor’s office supported it. After half-an-hour break Judge Labaza Duishvili upheld the solicitation.

According to official information, law enforcement officers arrested Zurab Laliashvili on July 16, 2013 when crossing the border. He was internationally sought since November of 2012.

Zurab Laliashvili and his deputy Davit Lortkipanidze were accused of the abuse of power that is punishable by imprisonment from 5 up to 8 years. According to MIA, Davit Lortkipanidze together with his former boss – Zurab Laliashvili intimidated Aleksandre Megutnishvili, resident of Tsinandali village; as a result, the latter purchased two luxury cars for the CSD in March of 2011.
