Head of the CEC Denied Access to Ajara

Head of the CEC Denied Access to Ajara

Yesterday, Adjaran authorities denied Zurab Chiaberashvili, head of the Central Election Commission, access to the region.  Chiaberashvili intended to prepare Batumi for a new election. The CEC recently decided to organize new elections in the Kobuleti and Khulo districts on April 18.

Chiaberashvili met with the local authorities at Choloki, who did not allow him to enter Adjara. According to them, valid elections were already held, and the decision of the CEC to hold new elections is unlawful.
