Protest by Giorgadze Supporters Dispersed

Zugdidi. 26.05.06. Media News. According to the Information of Igor Giorgadze’s political party “Samartlianoba” (“Justice”), a protest by their supporters was dispersed by the police.

 “The Georgian police have committed one more barbarous act. They dispersed a meeting of the supporters of the party “Justice”, which was dedicated to the Day of Freedom of Georgia” – reads a statement by the party.

According to the Igor Giorgadze foundation, the Ministry of Interior not only dispersed the protest but also detained some of the activists.

The protest was the part of the of the ‘Hot Week’ protest started in Tbilisi on May 23rd by the ‘Anti Soros’ social movement.

According to information spread by the supporters of Giorgadze, they tried to open the door of the Central Market that had been locked by the government. This was followed by a response from the police who dispersed the protest.
