Protest in Pankisi Gorge

Protest rally was held in Pankisi Gorge where people requested freedom of former journalist and acting English language teacher Shorena Khangoshvili, who was arrested for drug-dealing several days ago. About 300 people participated in the rally. They do not trust the local investigation and urge the international organizations for help.
Microphones in Batumi City Court Deafened during Several Hours

Courtrooms in the Batumi City Court are well equipped. However, on September 15 microphones in the second court room did not work during the trial. We tried to clear up the situation with the court chairman Temur Gogokhia but he did not wish to make comments on the fact. The Court’s network administration Sergo Khumarian claims the microphones have never worked in that court room before.
Police Disrupts Strike of Hercules Factory Workers and Arrests Protestors

At 22:00 pm on September 15th, police disrupted a protest action of Georgian-Indian factory Hercules. According to United Georgian Trade Unions, the police detained approximately 35 citizens during the protest disruption. There are four people among the detainees.

It has been the second time the drinking water came with oil in the Bartskhani settlement. The government promised the population to eradicate the problem two months ago. The problems have still not been solved. The domestic items have been damaged for the second time. Prevention and monitoring department of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia finished monitoring of penitentiary institutions in the western Georgia by visiting Batumi Prison # 3 and Zugdidi Prison # 4; the preliminary report of the monitoring was also prepared. The Public Defender of Georgia has been requesting to liquidate those two institutions since 2009.

Lela Abesadze - former neighbor of the head of Adjara Government Levan Varshalomidze said the head of his security service – Vakhtang Kazazishvili beat her in the building of Adjara Government. Abesadze had bruises and injuries on the legs. Police station # 3 is investigating the fact.
