Public Defender Cannot Say Anything About Explosion of Memorial to Victory

December 25, 2009

On December 24, public defender of Georgia Giorgi Tughushi met representatives of the Kutaisi based NGOs. He paid attention to the urgent situation in detention settings alongside other problems of Imereti region. They spoke about compact settlements of IDPs too.

Giorgi Tughushi said five-man group will be set up in Public Defender’s Office in near future which will study the situation of IDPs on the place.

“As for detention settings and among them Kutaisi Prison N 2, our last report pays particular attention to this fact and prepared special recommendations too,” said Giorgi Tughushi.

As for the tragedy caused by the explosion of the Memorial to Victory, public defender said he could not say anything; he just intended to meet officials of Kutaisi municipality board and City Hall and will ask some questions to them about it.
