The family of a beaten juvenile blames investigation in partiality

August 13, 2010

The Bagalishvili family from Signai region, town Tsnori blames Signani Prosecutor’s office in partiality. As Kakheti Information Center stated to Guram Bagalishvili, his son was severely beaten by the police officers, Levan Kharatishvili and Otar Topchishvili inflicting serious body damages on him. The offenders have not been punished yet.

“Kharatishvili and Topchiashvili severly beat my 23 old son Guram bagalishvili on January 1st, 2010. They broke his head in three places hitting him with a firearm. We have all the evidence that confirms that police officers committed hooliganism, beating and misuse of the official rights, though the prosecutor’s office is not indicting them,” – says the father of sufferer.

According to the information of Signagi Prosecutor’s office, the investigation has been launched according to the article 332 of Criminal Code of Georgia. Police officers were dismissed from Signani police based on their personal application.

It should be noted that this is not the first fact of severe beating of a citizen by Signagi police officers. Not too long ago, the assistant of the head of Signagi police beat citizen Gela Kutibashvili so bad, that his 12 teeth and jaw bone were broken, and after that the citizen was detained with the charge of resistance to police. Despite numerous complaints of Kutibashvili, Digmelashvili was promoted to the job in the Main Regional Department of Ministry of Internal Affairs.
