On December 9, Friday, at 12:00 pm, the Human Rights House Tbilisi and the Union Sapari are glad to invite you to the presentation of the Georgian documentary film “Return” in the framework of the Human Rights Week.

The main purpose of Human Rights Week is to help popularization and bring increased recognition to International Human Rights Day. It also aims to raise the awareness of the Georgian students attending to the important issues facing them in the many fields of human rights.

The documentary is about domestic violence which was filmed by the team of the Union Safari in a village in Kakheti region.

Liya’s past is troublesome—her mother was killed by her father, and she herself was beaten by him many times—and she spends her adult life attempting to cope with her memories. To cut the vicious circle of violence in the village of her childhood, where domestic violence is considered “normal”, Liya returns to her former home to awaken the villagers and establish new relationships among them.

In spite of her hard and painful past, she has not become embittered and kept love towards people and life itslef.

After the presentation, the discussion will be opened and the chairwoman of the Union Safari Natalia Zazashvili will facilitate the discussion.
