TV Company Cosmos Halts the Broadcasting of Trialeti

February 22, 2011

It has been several days now cable network Ltd Cosmos stopped the broadcasting of TV Company Trialeti. According to the director of the cable network Zurab Mamukelashvili, one of the transmitter was damaged and the broadcasting of three channels has been halted, Traialeti among them. Zurab Mamukelashvili states that he does not have information when the transmitter will be fixed.

TV Company Trialeti considers that this is the result of the next pressure exercised by the government against the free speech. TV Company Trialeti was intentionally cut off from the cable network so the public using this network is deprived of objective information. One of the reasons of halting Trialeti broadcasting is renewal of talk-show Hot Line where the leaders of the different political parties are invited to talk about the state situation. The government representatives refuse to participate in the program and try to suppress the different opinion and free speech broadcast on Trialeti. If it was otherwise, the leadership of the cable TV would have considered the request of its own subscribers and would have turned off some Russian channel instead of Trialeti,” – states the statement spread by TV Company Trialeti.

The founder of Ltd Cosmos is the former governor of Gori Zaza Koshadze and his wife Nino Jakobia.

People are calling the Office of TV Company Trialeti asking for the timely renewal of its broadcasting or else they will refuse to cooperate with the corresponding cable network.
